• Terms in brief

I want you to be happy with your purchase: I sell everything in good faith, and will do what I can to make sure you receive high-quality parts that have been delivered safely and promptly.

Remember, though, that all parts are used, I have to reserve the right not to agree to a sale (e.g if there's a problem with your address), and that this site uses cookies.

  • Returns in brief

Everything comes with at least a 30-day guarantee, so contact me within that time and we'll make arrangements for a return, replacement, or refund of a faulty item.

If you're in the UK and want to send something back simply because you've changed your mind, make sure to let me know within 14 days: if you're further afield, remember that cost will probably preclude doing anything similar.

  • Privacy in brief

I'm not really interested in your information other than to correspond or deliver your parcel.

Unfortunately I have to entrust other companies with your data in order to do either of those things, and a glance at any corporate privacy policy invariably makes for pretty bleak reading: the best way to put it is to say that I'll only share your information with reputable companies as necessary, and we'll hope they do the same.

By using this website, you agree to be bound by the terms, conditions, and privacy policy below.

Terms & conditions

Delivery

For some types of product or delivery classes, delivery may be offered which is 'guaranteed' within a certain timeframe after purchase: this guarantee only applies if the order has been offered and agreed to within the required timeframe necessary to fulfil such an order as stated at checkout. If the item is not delivered within the timeframe stated for guaranteed delivery, the maximum liability of this guarantee is the supplement paid over the standard class of delivery: when no supplement has been paid that liability is zero, even if a goodwill gesture is then made.

Please make sure that it's legal for you to receive or import the product you're buying.

Taxes & Additional charges

For delivery addresses abroad where the order doesn't include a charge for import taxes and fees at checkout, you will be liable to pay them yourself, usually with a large fee from the courier handling it. I will on request mark the parcel with any codes to indicate that you've paid the tax yourself, or help in any way I can to make importing your order easier: please contact me immediately after purchase.

Consumer rights & Refunds

Customers in the UK are protected under rules for online and distance selling: if you'd like to return a purchase, please let me know within 30 days. I'll agree by reply, arrange a return, and process a full refund well within the 14 days required after receiving the item back. As these rules don't apply to purchases under £42, I ask that you pay return postage yourself on orders under that value, or I'll arrange it for a £5 fee taken from the refund amount. Please ensure any returns are in the same condition they were received, and do not become damaged in transit. All items are discreetly witnessed or security marked to prevent fraudulent returns.

For customers with EU or Swiss delivery addresses abroad where the order includes a charge for DDP (where you pay import taxes and fees at checkout), note that, while the above policy applies, it is unfortunately likely to be cost prohibitive. You are not entitled to a refund on either the postage supplement or the tax paid: as stated in the above section, though tax appears to be integrated into the price, it is instead another charge paid on your behalf to the courier, who will in turn pay the tax for you. It should therefore be considered part of the delivery supplement. If you're entitled to any refund on the import tax, you will have to recover it yourself. I haven't purposefully made this policy complicated to stop returns from abroad: it really is just this complicated and cost prohibitive. It's therefore best to make absolutely sure only to order a product that is correct, you definitely want, that you can install or use, and that you have no intention of returning.

Cancellations

You can cancel your order by withdrawing your offer to purchase any time before the item is despatched: please contact me as soon as possible and wait for my agreement, as it can only be a matter of hours before the item is despatched. After despatch, you have a right to a refund in line with the law, and the Refunds policy above.

I reserve the right to cancel your order by not agreeing to the sale. I will contact you as soon as possible with a reason, initiate any refunds within 3 days, and, if possible, make you an offer I can agree to.

Listings & Products

All items sold are used and working, unless stated. Images are shown for illustration only, so you will not necessarily receive the part shown; always check the description, part number, and compatibility notes to ensure that you are buying a suitable product, part, or accessory - if you're unsure, contact me. No item is supplied in original packaging or with original documentation, unless stated.

All parts and accessories are to be installed by qualified servicepersons only: electrical systems and electronics can be dangerous. It is your part, and I accept no liability for harm or injury in their installation, or use. The brief installation guides on listings are are a courtesy to be used as only that: a guide. I can't accept any liability for harm or damage from their use.

If your item arrives not as described, in function or appearance, contact me so I can make arrangements for its return or replacement. If you've broken or modified a part, or caused it to have some fault upon installation, I cannot accept the return. All items must be returned in suitable packaging, including a metallized, ESD-safe bag if supplied in one.

Formation of contract

This website is operated by Thomas Meyrick trading as Obscure Eclectics. Terms, conditions, and policies are likely to change from time to time: those in effect are always those shown on this page.

To place an order you must be legally capable of entering into binding contracts, and be at least 18 years of age. A sale is a contract formed only when you as a buyer offer to enter it by placing an order for a product on the website, and I as the seller accept it by despatching the product.
Your paying for an item or my receiving an order confirmation does not constitute agreement, and I reserve the right not to accept to enter into the contract for any reason (for example, if there is a problem with your address, or there's an error in the listing). For orders with multiple products, each individual item should be regarded as a separate contract offer, only agreed to when the individual item is despatched. You may only withdraw your offer to enter a contract before an order is despatched, so please contact me immediately to do so. If I do not agree to the contract, I will inform you as soon as possible, and initiate a refund of any payment made within 3 days. When you offer to enter a contract by placing an order, you consent to these terms and conditions, and the privacy policy.

The rest

There are Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) regulations in force to ensure that businesses involved in the supply of such equipment take an active role in its collection, recycling and environmentally sound disposal. As a business reclaiming and selling used electronics, I take the reduction of all waste seriously, including WEEE, and will ensure all such waste is disposed of correctly. In addition, I spend time dismantling all device waste into separated constituent parts in order to reduce the amount of WEEE and non-recycled waste waste to a minimum.

Don't bin batteries or waste electronics in household waste, and don't put them in the household recycling: save them for a local centre where they have the correct facilities to dispose of them. If you get stuck, I will also take back WEEE on a like-for-like basis with any purchase: just pay for postage and send it within 30 days. Don't send loose batteries, or anything else forbidden to be carried by post or your courier.

I will accept no liability for failure or delay in supply or delivery, or for any defect to goods caused by an event or circumstance beyond my reasonable control.
